BD reports strong third-quarter results

Franklin Lakes-based medical technology company BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) reported that earnings and revenue rose in its fiscal third quarter.

BD said in a news release that diluted earnings per share from continuing operations rose 12 percent, to $1.65, from $1.47 in the third quarter of 2013. Revenue reached $2.16 billion, up 5.1 percent from $2.05 billion in the previous year.

"We are pleased with our solid third quarter results, with each of our segments contributing to growth," Vincent A. Forlenza, chairman, CEO and president, said in the release. "Our consistent performance demonstrates that our strategy remains sound in this dynamic health care environment."
