Frontier Airlines announced Wednesday that starting in June, it will be adding nonstop service out of Trenton-Mercer Airport in Ewing to three more Midwest cities.
Flights will now be headed to St. Louis, Minneapolis and Milwaukee.
For Frontier, the airport's only carrier providing scheduled passenger service, the move comes just weeks after having announced expanded nonstop service to St. Augustine out of Trenton.
Wednesday's announcement is just another in a series of service expansions at the airport since it was closed for nearly two months and reopened in November after having underwent $20.3 million in renovations.
"It took a great team effort to complete our renovations within the tight two-month window and we are thrilled that Frontier Airlines continues to expand its slate of destinations," Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes said.
The new destinations now bring the total number offered from the airport to 17. Service to all three will begin on June 13.
"It's great to be expanding our service again from Trenton-Mercer Airport, where we'll now serve 17 different destinations," Frontier senior vice president Daniel Shurz said. "Now customers can enjoy ultra-low fares and choose when they fly to the Twin Cities, the Gateway city and the largest city in the state of Wisconsin."
Nonstop service from Trenton is also currently offered to Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Indianapolis, Nashville, Orlando, Raleigh-Durham and Tampa.
"Never before in its history has Trenton-Mercer Airport offered this number and variety of destinations and we are thrilled with Frontier's plan to further expand its network of destinations by adding St. Louis, Milwaukee and Minneapolis," Hughes said.
