Chicago-based Abbott Point-of-Care, a global health care company with a location in Plainsboro, plans to lay off 80 employees at that office effective March 31.
"Our point-of-care diagnostics initiated changes to its organization to better meet the current and future needs of its customers," spokeswoman Angela Duff told The Times of Trenton. "Impacted employees will be offered severance, outplacement services and will be considered for open positions within the company."
The fortune 200 company produces testing and diagnostic equipment and technology and manufactures medical devices and generic pharmaceuticals. It serves people in over 150 countries and employs about 70,000.
