No one knows yet who is on the NJBIZ 2013 Power 100 list. Definitely not the company contacting people yesterday to order a plaque showing that they are on the unpublished 2013 list.

Yup, some company not authorized by NJBIZ emailed people from the 2012 list yesterday asking if they wanted to buy a plaque—a quite expensive plaque—with their name on it as one of the 2013 Power 100 people "as published in NJBIZ," although the company didn't even get our name right. The email includes a link where the recipient can see what the plaque will look like with his/her name on it, in various wood finishes.

First problem is, the 2013 list doesn't publish until Jan. 28. The bigger problem is, we have approximately a 50 percent turnover rate on the 2013 list, which means if the company contacted everyone on the 2012 list, there will be about 50 people who are going to get a disappointing surprise on Jan. 28. I hope this company offers refunds.

I learned about this problem yesterday when we were contacted by people on the 2012 list about the fact that they are on the 2013 list, and asking where they could find the 2013 list on our website. Ugh.

Again, no one knows who is on the 2013 list. Not even me, because I have this crazy urge to keep tinkering with the list, even at this late date.

NJBIZ works with only one company on reprints and plaques of what we publish: The YGS Group. If on Jan. 28 you want a plaque for your listing on the 2013 Power 100 list, contact YGS at (800) 290-5460, ext. 100 or journalpubreprints@theygsgroup.com.

Ignore the rest.
