Description For 91 harrowing days, a twenty-two-year-old student in Rwanda, Africa, hid in the bathroom of a minister's house with seven other adults to escape all but certain death. On Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, author and humanitarian Immaculée Ilibagiza will share her story of resilience and faith when Don Bosco Prep hosts "An Evening with Immaculée." The event will be held at 7 p.m. in the school's De Sales Hall Auditorium at 492 N. Franklin Turnpike in Ramsey, N.J.

Ilibagiza survived the 1994 Rwandan genocide in which most of her family - and hundreds of thousands of others - were killed. She turned to prayer while in hiding as a way of coping with fear and anger, and has chronicled her experiences in several books, including the recent The Rosary: The Prayer That Saved My Life and the internationally acclaimed bestseller, Left to Tell. Ilibagiza has received honorary doctoral degrees from the University of Notre Dame, Saint John's University, Seton Hall University, Siena College and Walsh University. She has been recognized and honored with numerous humanitarian awards including The Mahatma Gandhi International Award for Reconciliation and Peace and the American Legacy's Women of Strength & Courage Award.
