By Andrew KitchenmanThe Public/Private Partnership Council of New Jersey is being organized by the New Jersey Alliance for Action, a nonprofit that promotes infrastructure. Alliance President Philip Beachem announced the council’s launch last week.
Public-private partnerships have resulted in the construction of toll roads in other states, but Beachem said the council will look to promote a variety of projects.
“It’s an effort to understand what is going on around the country,” said Beachem, who sees construction of school buildings, parking decks and public-college dormitories as potential projects, as well as the sharing of air rights over state properties.
The council is being organized as part of the alliance. Its Web site, www.pppofnj.com, is sponsored by AECOM, a Los Angeles-based technical support provider; Halcrow, a London-based infrastructure planning company; and Skanska, the largest construction company in Sweden.
