Refrig-It Warehouse has signed on for 140,000 square feet at Newark’s Portside Distribution Center, marking the site’s first lease.
Real estate services and investment company CBRE arranged the deal for the full-service, public cold-storage warehouse provider at 233-287 Miller St.
The newly constructed 290,000-square-foot center was developed through a joint partnership of Penwood Real Esate Investment Management of Hartford, Conn., and Gladstone-based Penford Group, CBRE said. It sits on 14.85 acres.
David Gheriani of CBRE represented Refrig-It in lease negotiations. The lease was prepared on the behalf of the building owner by William Waxman, Mindy Lissner and Ben Shapiro, also of CBRE.
“Given the trend of increased demand for cold storage and food-grade spaces in the market, finding a strategically located building was a necessity,” Gheriani said in a release.
According to CBRE, Eric Brown, Eric Wagner and Mike Wood from the company’s New Jersey Project Management team have been employed by Refrig-It for assistance with infrastructure build-out and permitting.
CBRE has New Jersey offices in East Brunswick, Florham Park, Saddle Brook, Woodbury and Mount Laurel.
