White and Williams expands Newark office by 5
Law firm White and Williams is beefing up its labor and employment group with five new members.
James Anelli and Joseph Paranac join the firm as partners; Laura Corvo and Robert Pettigrew have come aboard as counsel; and Andrée Laney joins as an associate.
Anelli, Paranac, Corvo and Pettigrew join White and Williams from LeClair Ryan, and Laney was previously a senior trial attorney and judge for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the federal agency that administers and enforces civil rights laws against workplace discrimination.
On the group exodus to White and Williams, Anelli told NJBIZ that it was a matter of the right opportunity at the right time.
“The right opportunity came up to assist in growth of their labor and employment practice and they were interested in expanding the Newark office,” he said. “It’s just one of those things — the right call came in.”
Anelli said his departure from LeClair was amicable and that he maintains a good relationship with the firm.
“I think there are real synergies between my practice and [White and Williams’] practices. We met and really hit it off, and everybody’s been wonderful here,” the 30-year veteran of labor and employment law said.
The Philadelphia-based firm has 240 lawyers across 10 Northeast offices. The Newark office focuses its services on the insurance industry, as the city is the third-largest insurance center in the country.
