The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a tradition for millions across the U.S., but, New Jerseyans can take special pride in knowing that Linde North America continues to give rise to the occasion by supplying helium for its famous balloons.
According to the Bridgewater-based company, 2018 marks 24 years of partnering with Macy’s on the event.
Susan Tercero, executive producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, said this year’s parade will include more than 50 balloons and creations.
The helium for the event is refined at a Linde plant in Otis, Kan. Once purified and liquefied it is shipped to Bethlehem, Pa., where Linde operates a helium trans-fill facility, where it is converted to a gas, compressed and transported by truck to New York City.
Linde says it will supply about 300,000 cubic feet of helium to the parade.
