Snow Operating, which offers training and support to ski facilities, will acquire controlling ownership position in the operations of Mountain Creek Resort, according to an agreement filed with Mountain Creek Resort Inc. and current owners the Koffman family.
This agreement will allow Mountain Creek in Vernon to emerge from the Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which it entered last spring. Snow Operating took over management of the resort this past spring.
“Vernon is my hometown and I recognize that Mountain Creek needs the town and local support and I also understand the town does best when Mountain Creek is strong and healthy,” said Snow Operating CEO Joe Hession in a statement. “This new arrangement secures our long-term involvement with the resort and puts us in a position to help shape the resort’s future.”
In preparation for the upcoming winter season, Mountain Creek is implementing a new snowmaking project which will allow the resort to open faster and provide consistent conditions better than it has in previous seasons.
Snow Operating partners with ski facilities all over North America to improve resort operations through technology and thus maximizing profitability. It will also operate Big Snow, the indoor ski and snowboard facility opening at the American Dream in the Meadowlands in 2019. It is billed as the first indoor real snow ski and snowboard facility.
