J&J, NFI earn EPA freight efficiency recognition

By ,

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency honored New Brunswick’s Johnson & Johnson and Cherry Hill’s NFI Industries with SmartWay Excellence Awards at the 2018 American Trucking Association Annual Management Conference & Exhibition in Austin, Texas, this week.

J&J’s SmartWay Shipping Partner and NFI’s Carrier Partner awards recognize both companies as freight leaders in the Garden State, with an eye toward environmental and energy efficiency.

2018 marks the fourth time that NFI has been honored as a SmartWay industry leader.

“These companies inspire others in the freight sector to invest in innovative technologies and business practices that save fuel, cut costs and protect the environment,” said Bill Wehrum, the Office of Air and Radiation assistant administrator for EPA, in a prepared statement.

According to the EPA, since 2004 SmartWay Partners have saved $29.7 billion in fuel costs and kept more than 103 million metric tons of air pollution from being emitted.

J&J’s award was announced as part of the SmartWay shippers and logistics award recipients at the 2018 Annual Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals conference Oct. 1, in Nashville, Tenn.
