4 NJ schools on US News list of best global universities

Four New Jersey schools made U.S. News & World Report’s list of the 1,250 best global universities for 2019, led by Princeton University at No. 9.

U.S. News & World Report ranked Rutgers University New Brunswick at No. 103, New Jersey Institute of Technology at No. 782 and Rutgers University-Newark at No. 1001.

Universities in the U.S. took four of the top five spots in the rankings, with Harvard University leading at No. 1.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University follow at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. The University of California-Berkeley takes the fourth spot, and the U.K.’s University of Oxford finishes out the top five.

The publication released the rankings of 1,250 universities around the world Tuesday and used 13 ranking factors and focused on institutions' research performance. The rankings were calculated using indicators that measure global and regional reputation and bibliometric indicators measuring academic research performance, such as citations and publications.
