The New Jersey CannaBusiness Association added Blazin’ Bakery owner Tara Sargente to its strategic advisory board, it said Wednesday.

Through South River-based Blazin’ Bakery, Sargente has been selling brownie mix optimized for DIY make-at-home edibles for over eight years. Her products are sold in 1,000 stores across the U.S. and available online.

Additionally, she is part-owner of Applied Cannabis Sciences of New Jersey, which applied for an Alternative Treatment Center license in August.

“My passion for the cannabis industry, and the positive impact it can have for patients and our communities, is why I entered the market nearly 10 years ago,” Sargente said in a statement. “I’m excited to bring my years of experience to the benefit of the NJCBA, its membership and the entire cannabis business community.”

NJCBA President Scott Rudder welcomed Sargente to the team.

“She brings a truly unique perspective to our ongoing efforts to legalize adult-use cannabis and expand access to medical cannabis. Tara has the industry expertise and the business savvy we need to help bring both of these issues across the finish line,” Rudder said in a prepared statement.

Nicholas Zitelli, Sargente’s business partner at ACSNJ, joined the board at NJCBA last week.
