Cherry Hill-headquartered TD Bank has announced it has been named a gold-level Green Lease Leader in the tenant category for 2018, making it the first bank ever to achieve such status.
TD was previously named a Green Lease Leader by the Institute for Market Transformation and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Buildings Alliance in 2015.
“TD Bank is at the forefront of financial institutions taking aim at lowering their carbon emissions by driving higher performance in buildings and tenant spaces,” IMT Executive Director Cliff Majersik said in a release.
Green Lease Leaders are companies and real estate professionals striving for the inclusion of energy efficiencies and sustainability measures in leases. Gold-level acknowledges the execution of green leases.
“This award recognizes our ongoing strategy to embed environmental provisions into our leasing process to further TD’s operational footprint performance,” TD’s Environmental Outreach Manager Irena Stankovic said.
TD launched its first Environmental Management Plan in 2010. Key provisions of the program include specific building targets for corporate and retail space.
