Warren-based Celularity Inc. has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire CariCord, it announced Friday.

Celularity works with placental-derived cells to develop immunotherapies and cell therapies. CariCord is a family cord blood bank based in Aurora, Co.

Financial terms were not disclosed for the deal, which is expected to close in the fourth quarter of this year.

"CariCord and Celularity share a vision of a future in which saving the abundant resources in a newborn's placenta after birth is the norm, sparking a sea change in the way we think about longevity and health span," CariCord President and CEO Calvin Cole said in a release.

CariCord is the only family cord blood bank to operate within an FDA licensed lab. It was established by ClinImmune Labs and the University of Colorado in 2013 and is associated with the University of Colorado Cord Blood Bank.
