The New Jersey Business & Industry Association named Tony Bawidamann as its new vice president of government affairs, effective Tuesday, NJBIA President and CEO Michele Siekerka said.
Bawidamann has spent years in government and regulatory affairs and compliance. He most recently was director of government affairs and alliance at pharmaceutical giant Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he developed state and federal government affairs campaigns.
“Tony brings a great wealth of experience and strategic acumen to our Government Affairs team,” Siekerka said in a statement. “His determination and enthusiasm will be of great benefit to New Jersey’s business community, which has come to expect nothing less than our staunch advocacy in Trenton. We are delighted to have Tony joining our team.”
Bawidamann previously oversaw government and regulation compliance for McDonald’s, Verizon, LS Power, Lennar Homes and Hudson News.
He was also active in the 2001 political campaigns for Senate President Stephen Sweeney and Assemblyman John Burzichelli, both D-3rd District, and the 2005 campaign for Senate Budget Chair Paul Sarlo, D-36th District.
