Day Pitney LLP has tapped Tommy Shi as director of diversity and inclusion, the firm announced Monday.
In his new position, he will lead the development and implementation of the firm’s strategic diversity and inclusion plan. Though the position is firm-wide, Shi will be located in the firm’s Parsippany office.
“Tommy has a unique and impressive background with deep experience in driving diversity and inclusion initiatives, and we are delighted that he has joined Day Pitney,” said Managing Partner Tom Goldberg in a statement. “We have made great strides toward creating a diverse and inclusive legal environment at the firm to benefit our attorneys, staff members, and our clients, and Tommy will help bring us to the next level.”
On top of establishing new diversity and inclusion programming, Shi will work to strengthen the firm’s current initiatives, including the Day Pitney Attorneys of Color Network, Women Working Together, the Day Pitney Alliance and the Barbara Rosenthal Summer Internship Program.
Previously, Shi was head of procurement at Mercedes-Benz Manhattan and before that he served as Mercedes-Benz USA’s diversity and inclusion officer for over ten years.
