Sears store in Hamilton Mall to close

By ,

Sears Holding Corp. will shutter 46 more Sears and Kmart stores nationwide, including a Sears in Atlantic County’s Hamilton Mall.

The company announced Wednesday it will close the store in Hamilton Mall, one of the mall’s anchor stores, in November. Its auto center will close in October.

A company statement described the closings as “part of our ongoing efforts to streamline Sears Holdings’ operations, strengthen our capital position and focus on our best stores.”

“We continue to evaluate our network of stores, which is a critical component to our integrated retail transformation, and will make further adjustments as needed,” the statement said.

Liquidation sales will start as early as Aug. 30.
