UHC to offer Eye Care 4 Kids

By ,

The Boys & Girls Club of Newark will host Eye Care 4 Kids on Sept. 8 in Newark as part of UnitedHealthcare’s efforts to expand eye care for children.

Free eye exams and glasses donations will also be offered.

Eye Care 4 Kids comes on the heels of UHC’s new Children’s Eye Care Program, which aims to expand access to eye exams and prescription glasses for children.

The program offers children covered by UHC vision plans up to the age of 13 an additional covered eye exam and pair of glasses if their prescription changes 0.5 diopter – the standard unit of measurement for vision prescriptions – or more at no additional premium.

New benefits will be available to those enrolled in employer-sponsored and individual UHC vision plans before the end of the year.

UHC provided grants to nonprofits in select cities nationwide to coordinate events like Eye Care 4 Kids.
