OpenTable: Three NJ restaurants rank among most scenic in US

By ,

If you’re looking to enjoy some scenery with your dinner, you don’t need to go far. Three restaurants in New Jersey made OpenTable’s 100 Most Scenic Restaurants in America list, compiled from reviews of over 28,000 restaurants nationwide.

In North Jersey, Weehawken’s Chart House wows with views of the New York City skyline. Peter Shields Inn looks out onto the water in Cape May, and Rat’s Restaurant at Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton features a sculpture garden, waterfall and pond.

"We know a memorable meal is as much about the ambiance as it is about the food," said Caroline Potter, OpenTable's chief dining officer, in a statement. "This year's list represents an immense variety of restaurants that not only offer an exceptional meal but also feature breathtaking views that enhance the experience for locals and travelers alike."

While Chart House offers high-end surf ‘n turf; Peter Shields Inn specializes in American; and Rat’s Restaurant serves up contemporary French food.

The 2018 list was generated from more than 12 million verified OpenTable diner reviews collected between June 1, 2017 and May 31 for restaurants across all 50 states and Washington, D.C.

All restaurants with a minimum overall score and number of reviews were included for consideration, according to OpenTable. Each restaurant was then scored and sorted based on the percentage of reviews that dubbed "scenic views" a special feature.
