Three individuals with personal ties to Monmouth Medical Center were on hand Tuesday to celebrate the completion and dedication of the Labor and Delivery Unit at the Eisenberg Family Center.

U.S Rep. Frank Pallone, D-6th District, and Long Branch Mayor John Pallone, brothers, both born at Monmouth Medical Center, were joined by Laura Eisenberg Barr, the daughter of Lewis and Judith Eisenberg, for whom the center is named.

The renovated labor and delivery suites, additional triage rooms and centrally located nurses station accompany several other recent renovations including a new wing for the postpartum unit, with private rooms.

According to the RWJBarnabas facility, Monmouth Medical delivers more babies than any other hospital in Monmouth and Ocean counties and is fourth in the state with 5,500 births annually.

“We are proud leaders and advocates for women’s health, wellness and safety,” Dr. Robert Graebe, chairman and program director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and chief of reproductive endocrinology at Monmouth Medical Center said in a release.

The improvements at the Eisenberg Family Center are part of a $35 million investment by Monmouth Medical that began earlier this year. Additional projects include upgrades to same-day surgery and patient units, general infrastructure work and a new interventional radiology suite.
