Cooper University Health Care has added a second helicopter, Cooper 2, to its air medical transport unit.

Based at Medford’s Flying W Airport, the vehicle will be utilized for coverage of the hospital’s northern service area while Cooper 1, at Millville Municipal Airport in Millville, will continue to cover the southern region.

Cooper 1 and 2 provide transportation for critical injuries from the scene of an emergency to the nearest hospital or trauma center, and hospital-to-hospital transfers for critically ill patients in need of advanced care.

Both helicopters operate, weather permitting, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with a specially trained crew featuring a pilot, flight nurses and paramedics.

Cooper’s service area includes Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem counties.
