Valley Health gets $35M boost for new hospital

By ,

Valley Health System has received two donations, totaling $35 million, earmarked to The Valley Hospital Foundation in support of the system’s plan to build a new hospital in Paramus.

Both donors were identified as long-time supporters of the system, with $20 million coming from an anonymous party and $15 million from The Bolger Foundation.

The new hospital, off of Winters Avenue in Paramus, would be part of an over 40-acre health care campus, co-located with the system’s same-day surgery, oncology and outpatient women’s and children’s services.

The Paramus location is less than three miles from its current spot in Ridgewood.

“These generous donations, along with other gifts already received, represent a noteworthy start to our effort to seek community support for the new hospital,” said David Bohan, vice president and chief development officer for The Valley Hospital Foundation, in a release.

Plans for the new hospital were announced in January 2017.

Valley hopes to present the site plan and hospital designs to both the public and Borough of Paramus later this year with sights set on a 2023 opening.
