Travel Channel: Callahan's one of the best pig out spots in US

Too hungry for normal portions and need to pig out instead? The Travel Channel has tapped Callahan’s of Norwood as one of the best pig out spots in America.

At this point Callahan’s is no stranger to recognition. The Food Network, Cooking Channel, BuzzFeed, and Thrillest have all featured the restaurant within the last year. A nod from the Travel Channel is another exciting development for the sexagenarian restaurant.

“It’s a great spiraling of exposure,” owner Daniel DeMiglio said. “And everyone finds us through social media—Travel Channel, Cooking Channel, people from other parts of the country and world.

“Now we have the distinguished honor of being chosen as one of the best pig out places in America. It’s fitting for what we do, the exposure that we’ve gotten and the foods that we create, so it’s pretty cool.”

On Aug. 16 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., the Travel Channel will be filming at the eatery popular for over-the-top items like its Stuffed Truffle Mac & Cheese Burger—which is exactly what it sounds like—and the Now & Tater Burger, a burger with big tater tots for buns, a burger with caramelized onions blended in, smoked whiskey ketchup, queso dip, bacon, lettuce, tomato and pickles.

Fans will have a shot at being interviewed for a new series featuring the brand set to air this fall; The Travel Channel crew will be recording customer interviews from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
