The Hudson County Economic Development Corp. and New Jersey Community Capital has a new down payment assistance program for Hudson County veterans and low-income homebuyers.

The program will provide a grant of up to $15,000 per household toward a down payment to qualified veterans and other eligible applicants who are purchasing primary residences in Hudson County. The program is being funded by a $200,000 allocation from the HCEDC, with at least 50 percent of the grants earmarked for veterans.

In addition to down payment assistance, homebuyers will be connected with affordable mortgage financing through nonprofit credit unions and other lenders and will receive free HUD-certified housing counseling.
