LMC, a home development and management company, announced Thursday the launch of construction of The Lively, a mixed-use project in the Powerhouse Arts District of Jersey City.
The property, LMC’s inaugural development in the northeast, will include 180 apartments and 1,343 square feet of ground-floor retail, as well as a 14,200-square-foot black-box theater and supporting spaces dedicated to the arts. First move-ins are anticipated next summer.
“Jersey City, particularly the downtown district, is experiencing a resurgence as it evolves with growing culture, new restaurants, bars and retail,” said Greg Belew, LMC’s city president for the tristate area. “Jersey City is now more than a value-based option to Manhattan and Brooklyn. The area is attracting more residents with its industrial-chic energy, turn-of-the-century architecture and eclectic arts.”
The area is an historic warehouse district in downtown Jersey City that derives its name from the unused generating station Hudson and Manhattan Railroad Powerhouse.
