Philadelphia-based law firm Weber Gallagher Simpson Stapleton Fires & Newby LLP elected Bedminster-based Andrew Indeck as chairman of the firm Monday, making him the first chair based outside of Philadelphia in its 27-year history.

Indeck will oversee more than 110 lawyers throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and New York. He replaces current Paul Fires, who after serving as chair at Weber Gallagher for more than 10 years will continue co-chairing the firm’s workers’ compensation group.

“Andy has been an instrumental leader who is respected throughout our firm and by our clients,” Fires said in a statement. “Andy is a strategic thinker who has exceptional judgment and business acumen.  I am proud of how far the firm has come in the past 10 years and am excited to see where Andy’s leadership will take us in the years to come.”

Indeck has been on the firm’s board of directors for the past year and a half and has been an equity partner for five years. His practice focuses on insurance coverage defense.
