Netherlands-based international law group The Parlex Group elected Westfield-based attorney Robert Anderson president Friday.

Anderson, a partner at Lindabury, McCormick, Estabrook & Cooper P.C., is the first non-European lawyer elected to lead the group, a network of law firms that cooperatively handle cross-border legal transactions, in its 47 year history.

“In our increasingly interconnected world, legal transactions now regularly involve multiple countries and legal systems,” said Anderson in a statement. “I am greatly honored by the opportunity to serve as Parlex’s president while we work to seamlessly meet the challenges of global transactions.”

In his practice, Anderson represents corporate clients in mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property and securities law matters.

He will also serve as a member of The Parlex Group’s Management Committee for a two-year term, managing attorneys across 25 countries.
