St. Joseph's, Atlantic figure among NJBIZ's Health Care Hero Awards

St. Joseph’s Health and Atlantic Health System were among the winners at NJBIZ’s Health Care Heroes 2018 gala, presented by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, at The Palace in Somerset on Tuesday morning.

James Pruden, an emergency physician at St. Joseph’s Health, won the Physician of the Year award, while Dana Beenstock, a nurse-practitioner at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, was named Nurse of the Year.

NJBIZ publisher Ken Kiczales offered welcoming remarks, along with Allen Karp, executive vice president Healthcare Management & Transformation at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey; Bob Garrett, co-CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health; Michael Pizzano, vice president at CareOne Health; and James Robertson, partner at law firm McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter. Their organizations were sponsors of the event, which brought together over 1,000 health care professionals in the state.

Awards and recognition were given for health care innovation in areas such as programs on mental health and substance abuse, workplace wellness, and care administration.
