Businesses pitch Walmart for product distribution

By ,

A group of New Jersey entrepreneurs are headed to Bentonville, Ark., to pitch their products for possible distribution in Walmart stores.

More than 450 businesses, including 27 from New Jersey, will attend Walmart’s annual Open Call event on Wednesday.

“Walmart's one-day Open Call event was the most amazing experience,” said Nadine Savino, president of Newton-based Universal Spill Proof Bottle Cap who attended last year. “It was the American Dream come true for a small business owner like myself.”

Her GCap – a bottle cap that makes almost any beverage bottle spill-proof – is sold in 180 stores across the U.S.

Businesses attending Open Call could secure deals with buys to be sold anywhere from a few regional Walmarts to thousands of stores nationwide.
