It is slated to open an additional office in Jersey City this fall.
Sanitas, which launched in 2015 as a multi-specialty outpatient network, only accepts insurance from Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. It also operates 10 multispecialty medical centers geared to the Hispanic community in Florida, and has a presence in Connecticut as well as Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Brazil and Mexico.
The Belleville center provides primary care, urgent care, laboratory, diagnostic imaging services, and wellness and disease management programs. The center is open in the evenings and weekends to ensure that patients have convenient access to care in their local community. Doctors there speak both Spanish and English, making it patient-friendly to the Hispanic community.
The company formed an alliance with Horizon late last year because of the shortage of primary care doctors serving the Hispanic community. According to Sanitas chief executive Juan Estrada, non-Horizon customers can pay out-of-pocket for a visit and submit the bill to their own insurance companies.
