Ocean Resort Casino in Atlantic City has set its grand opening for June 28.
That’s the same date Hard Rock Hotel and Casino also is set to open in city. Though unrelated, the dual openings reflect hopes in Atlantic City and beyond that the onetime boardwalk empire is back on course for a return to more prosperous times.
Ocean Resort occupies the former space of the troubled Revel Casino Hotel, which closed its doors in 2014 following a string of bankruptcies and other failed endeavors. The Hard Rock, which announced its grand opening earlier, was constructed on the former site of the failed Trump Taj Mahal.
“It was important for us to share this news with you directly, as the team here at Ocean – both as part of our family and as a part of the wonderful community that is Atlantic City — will continue to play an integral role in our future success,” said Bruce Deifik, chairman of AC Ocean Walk, the owner and operator of Ocean Resort.
The 20-acre hotel, towering over the famed Atlantic City boardwalk, boasts 1,399 rooms, a 138,000-square-foot-casino, 160,000 square feet of corporate meeting space, six swimming pools, a 32,000-square-foot-spa and TopGolf, a luxury golf franchise. AC Ocean Walk is partnered with the Hyatt global hotel franchise to oversee a variety of the corporate aspects of Ocean Resort.
