Rutgers transportation groups awarded for public outreach

The North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority and Rutgers University’s Voorhees Transportation Center have received the Silver 2018 National Planning Achievement Award for Public Outreach from the American Planning Association.

The award recognizes the organizations’ outreach program Innovations in Public Engagement, which uses non-traditional activities to engage with target demographics of transportation users.

The NJTPA conducted outreach with New Jersey residents to develop Plan 2045, a long-range transportation plan that addresses the diverse needs and challenges of New Jersey. The end result was a regional transportation plan to assist young adults, low-income residents, teenagers and individuals with limited English-language skills, groups who are most affected by transportation issues.
