Atlantic Health System has joined six health care providers and universities in a nonprofit clinical research consortium.

Partners in Innovation, Education and Research aims to increase the number of clinical trial sites across the U.S. PIER participants also include Drexel University, Einstein Healthcare Network, Geisinger (including AtlantiCare), Main Line Health and Thomas Jefferson University.

A consortium-launch event, set for Jefferson in Philadelphia on Monday, will feature Stephen Klasko, CEO of Jefferson Health; David Whellan, chief operation officer of PIER Consortium; Brian Gragnolati, CEO of Atlantic Health System; Jack Lynch, CEO of Main Line Health; Ellie Kelepouris, associate dean of clinical research at Drexel University and Dr. Marilouise Vendetti, chief medical officer at Geisinger AtlantiCare.
