The American Medical Group Association has selected Summit Medical Group for its cardiovascular disease (CVD) Cohort of the Innovator Track, a 12-month program designed to develop new innovations in heart treatment for adults with type 2 diabetes.

The program is led by AMGA’s Together 2 Goal campaign. SMG, the country’s largest physician-owned health care network, will team with a dozen medical groups from around the country, as well as a clinical advisory committee and AMGA to develop and innovate care processes to better identify and manage CVD risk among type 2 diabetes sufferers. The program involves developing and implementing care processes for improvement and track accompanying metrics.

“As part of our mission to advance high performance health, AMGA wants to understand how providers can improve care to address CVD risk among people with type 2 diabetes in order to share that knowledge with AMGA members and the broader healthcare community,” said Dr. John Kennedy, chief medical officer at AMGA and president at AMGA Foundation. “We’re thrilled that Summit Medical Group has joined us to help achieve this goal.”
