House passes Federal Railroad Administration Safety Data Improvement Act

By ,

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the Federal Railroad Administration Safety Data Improvement Act to improve and standardize reporting and training around railway accidents on NJ Transit and Amtrak.

The act, sponsored by Rep. Josh Gottheimer, D-5th District, would require the Federal Railroad Administration to update the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Senate Commerce Committee annually on its progress.

It would also codify safety accountability requirements to prevent shifting in standards from one administration to the next and require a plan and the implementation of recommendations found in a report from the Department of Transportation’s Inspector General.
