The Gateway Program soon could get a boost in the form of $540 million as part of a federal spending bill, according to a published report.
Politico New Jersey disclosed the update regarding the proposed mega-project that would tunnel under the Hudson River to provide another rail line connecting New Jersey and New York. The project, which is also seeking massive private funding, would also repair an existing aging tunnel damaged by Hurricane Sandy in 2012. reported on the funding
Estimated total costs: $20 billion to $30 billion. The pending congressional deal on Gateway is considered delicate, as it would go against the Trump Administration’s opposition to the project.
