Piscataway-based Camber Pharmaceuticals is set to sell a cheaper version of Tamiflu under the generic name Oseltamivir Phosphate Capsules.

Hoffman La Roche, the maker of Tamiflu, had come under fire because the medication, primarily used to treat flu symptoms, was inordinately expensive, even with the co-pay.

According to Good Rx, a website that tracks medication costs, the cash price for a one-dose pack of Tamiflu ranged from $108 to $166. The cost came under particular scrutiny due to the fact that flu-related deaths among children in the U.S. rose to 53 this season.

Oseltamivir Phosphate capsules are available in 30, 45 and 75mg 10 blister packs.
