Aaron Fichtner named president of New Jersey Council of County Colleges

By ,

The New Jersey Council of County Colleges has named Aaron Fichtner of Lawrenceville its new president of the state association for New Jersey’s 19 community colleges.

Fichtner was commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. He began his new role Feb. 5 and succeeds Lawrence Nespoli, who retired after 27 years of service to the Council of County Colleges and New Jersey’s community colleges.

The Council of County Colleges lobbies the legislature and governor to fund New Jersey community colleges and supports statewide strategic initiatives, according to the council of county college web site. The council is managed by independent trustees.
