Second New Jersey Dave & Buster's location opens in Wayne

By ,

Entertainment-focused restaurant Dave & Buster’s opened its second New Jersey location this week, only two months after the opening of its first.

The new Wayne location in the Willowbrook Mall is 48,000-square-feet of fun: hundreds of arcade games, dozens of massive TV screens, and a sports bar with a broad food and booze selection.

This is the Dallas-based chain’s 109th location overall.

For Dave & Buster’s to find success in New Jersey, an antiquated law unlike any other in the country needed to be changed: A state law signed in 1959 prohibited businesses from holding both a liquor license and a license to operate amusement games.

In 2015, former Gov. Christie signed a law putting an end to that prohibition, provided the business had at least 100 games and 20,000 square feet—a clear nod to the popular chain, which at the time was already eyeing New Jersey,

The new location brings more than 200 new jobs to Wayne. Its doors are open Sunday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to midnight, Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., and Friday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
