Hackensack Meridian Health to launch heart studies with new donation

By ,

Hackensack Meridian Health is set to launch the Hackensack University Medical Center Heart Rhythm Database after receiving a $550,000 donation from state residents Robert and Carol Williams.

The Heart Rhythm Database will be led by Dr. Grant Simons, chief of Heart Rhythm Services and overseen by Dr. Joseph Parrillo, chair of HMH’s Heart & Vascular Hospital. It will be a source for prospective clinical trials, introspective studies and registry trials.

A second component to be supported by the donation is the AVID Study led by Dr. William Salerno, which will research the cardiovascular impact of amphetamines, mixed salt amphetamines and amphetamine-like drugs after the long-term administration typically prescribed in young adult patients treated for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.
