Uber, Mack-Cali announce ridership pilot program at Metropark

By ,

The Mack-Cali Realty Corp. announced Thursday the start of a three-month ridership program with Uber for four properties at the Metropark train station in Iselin.

The agreement, Uber said, will cover Uber rides for up to $15 to and from four office complexes during commuting hours.

"We're constantly looking for new ways to up the convenience quotient for our office tenants, and this partnership with Uber is an innovative way to do so," said Michael DeMarco, CEO of Mack-Cali Realty Corp., in a news release. "We realize our tenants work long, sometimes unpredictable hours. We hope that, by providing them with subsidized Uber rides, we can help simplify this aspect of their lives."

The tenants set to benefit from the partnership are located at the following buildings: 333 Thornall St. and 343 Thornall St., in Edison; 101 Wood Ave. in Iselin; and 581 Main St. in Woodbridge.

Uber said that a custom pickup and dropoff area will be established at each location. Mack-Cali’s tenants will have access to an Uber for Business profile from which Uber will bill the first $15 to Mack-Cali and any subsequent costs to the rider’s personal payment method.

The ride-sharing service piloted a similar ridership program with the city of Summit where, according to Uber, the city subsidized resident access to mass transit to reduce car usage.
