RWJBarnabas names new head of spine services unit

By ,

RWJBarnabas Health, New Jersey’s largest health care provider, has promoted Brian George, administrative director of clinical operations at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, to lead its musculoskeletal and spine services unit.

In his new role, George will drive costs, quality and outcomes for the health system’s orthopedic service line while also working on product improvement and standardization with the materials management division. He will also work closely with the RWJBarnabas Health physician community on protocols and pathways, as well as explore novel payment scenarios.

George has been with RWJBarnabas Health for nine years. For the past two years, he co-chaired RWJBarnabas Health’s efforts to promote the mandatory Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ lower extremity joint replacement bundle. Prior to joining Saint Barnabas, he worked at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

“Brian has proven to be an exceptional leader and has demonstrated great success in the efforts surrounding the CMS lower extremity joint replacement bundle,” said Dr. John Bonamo, chief medical and quality officer for RWJBarnabas Health. “His extensive experience in healthcare administration will strengthen our services and care pathways to the communities we serve.”
