NJ accounting firms specializing in employee benefits merge

By ,

Ennis Hargadon LLC, an accounting firm in Cliffside Park, has merged with Cranford-based MSPC Certified Public Accountants and Advisors. The combined firm will now have 67 employees, including 11 partners.

Jim Flannery, a managing principal at MSPC, said in a press release that the merger was driven by the fact that both firms specialize in employee benefit plans and labor unions. Patrick Trombetta, who serves on the MSPC’s executive committee, will continue to lead the segment that currently works with over 100 Employee Benefit Funds and 40 Labor Unions. The expanded department provides auditing, government filing compliance and consulting services to plan sponsors, trustees and administrators of both single and multi-employer benefit plans.

Bill Ennis, head of Ennis Hardogan, said in an announcement that the merger “provides us with additional resources and a team of professionals who understand the unique requirements of working with labor unions and third-party plan administrators.”

Flannery added that “This was a natural fit for us as Ennis’ employee benefit plan expertise complements our existing practice and broadens our reach in serving labor unions and those who administer their plans.”
