The law firm Patel & Soltis announced that its policy director, Lazaro Cardenas, has been appointed to Gov.-elect Phil Murphy's transition committee.
Cardenas, who will serve on Murphy’s law and justice committee, has been the firm’s policy director since 2014. He focuses his efforts on advising its legal team of immigrant and civil rights policy issues,
“Our firm is deeply committed to civil rights and social justice and Cardenas has been invaluable in guiding our pro-bono priorities,” said Veer Patel, a founding member of the firm. “It is a testament to Cardenas’ dedication and knowledge that Gov.-elect Murphy appointed him to the law and justice committee. We are proud of his achievements.”
Prior to Patel & Soltis, Cardenas was deputy director of the Latino Coalition of New Jersey since 2005, and has been a member of the steering committee of the Latino Action Network since 2010.
“I look forward to working with Governor-Elect Murphy to build a more inclusive state government,” Cardenas said. “We have a lot of work to do to rebuild New Jersey after eight years of mismanagement by outgoing Gov. Christie. This is a chance for a new beginning and I am glad to be part of it.”
