In preparation for his term come January 2018, Gov.-elect Phil Murphy has named four Gibbons P.C. attorneys to his transition team.

The attorneys will serve Transition2018, Murphy’s official gubernatorial transition, and will undertake policy analysis and provide recommendations on a variety of state issues and initiatives.

James R. Zazzali, of counsel at Gibbons and former chief justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court, will serve as ethics counsel to Transition2018. Gary Stein, a former associate justice on the NJ Supreme Court, was also appointed by Murphy as ethics counsel.

“James Zazzali along with the Gibbons attorneys chosen to serve on the Transition2018 committees will provide valuable assistance to Gov.-elect Murphy,” said Patrick C. Dunican Jr., chairman and managing director of Gibbons. “We are pleased to have so many Gibbons attorneys working alongside a large number of our clients to assist with this transition.”

In addition to Zazzali and Stein, the following Gibbons attorneys will also serve on the transition committees:

  • Lawrence S. Lustberg, law and justice committee;
  • Christine A. Stearns, healthcare committee;
  • David J. Pascrell, budget committee.

“New Jersey needs an administration ready to hit the ground running in January, and through the work of the transition committees my administration will not take office blind to the challenges and opportunities before us,” said Murphy.

“I am grateful to everyone who accepted the call to serve our transition. From analyzing and prescribing policy to taking a fresh look at the basic organization of government, these committees have a lot of work to do. I am confident they will put my administration in a position to begin delivering results for the people of New Jersey from day one.”
