RWJBarnabas will join AmeriHealth NJ's tier 1 health insurance network, a move that will expand AmeriHealth’s reach in to six additional counties in northern New Jersey.

AmeriHealth will now be available to residents in the counties of Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Somerset and Union. AmeriHealth's tiered network system launched in 2013, and has expanded from three hospital partners to 13 since then, and is available in 21 counties since then.

“Welcoming RWJBarnabas Health, one of the most comprehensive health systems in the state, is a significant enhancement to our network,” Ken Kobylowski, AmeriHealth’s senior vice president of provider contracting and network operations, said in a prepared statement. “This new partnership nearly doubles the county reach of AmeriHealth Advantage, which has consistently been our most popular offering.”

RWJBarnabas is the state’s largest employer with 33,000 workers, and has a network of roughly 9,000 doctors.

“RWJBarnabas Health is pleased to join tier 1 in AmeriHealth Advantage, providing its members with increased opportunities to receive outstanding care at our leading medical centers and wide range of ancillary facilities,” John Doll, RWJBarnabas’ chief financial officer said in a press release.

“Our 9,000 physicians and 33,000 employees are committed to providing the highest quality care to our patients and we look forward to offering the finest care to all AmeriHealth members.”
