New Jersey's chapter of The National Federation of Independent Business, an organization focused on small business, has weighed in on the state senate election in the 14th district.
The NFIB has endorsed Republican Ileana Schirmer for state senate. Schirmer is contesting the seat of Democratic state senator Linda Greenstein.
The endorsements comes from NFIB’s New Jersey political action committee, which focuses on promoting leaders who advocate for small business interests.
“New Jersey’s current business environment is nothing short of hostile,” Schirmer said in a prepared statement. “I have dealt firsthand with the overbearing taxes and regulations causing companies to close up shop or flee our state.”
Schirmer’s candidacy has drawn a surprising amount of national attention. In August she was endorsed by Florida Senator Marco Rubio. NJ.com reported that Schirmer had donated $1,000 dollars to Rubio’s presidential candidacy in 2016.
