Federal Express has cut the ribbon on a new 307,000-square-foot distribution center in Hamilton Township near Trenton.

The new facility will start with roughly 280 local employees, and with room to add more as demand grows, according to a press release. The new facility is part of the Memphis-based company’s ongoing expansion plan, which has included the addition of 15 major distribution hubs and 500 new facilities since 2005.

FedEx has made approximately $18 billion in revenue in its 2017 fiscal year, and has seen its daily volume of packages double in the past decade, according to the release. In total, it employs more than 90,000 people around the world in nearly 600 distribution hubs and local pickup-and-delivery stations.

It also uses 57,000 motorized vehicles operated by 6,000 locally-owned small businesses, and transports nearly 8 million packages per day.
