By ,

J&J Snack Foods Corp., the Pennsauken-based maker of food and beverage products, has acquired an Illinois-based premium bread and pretzel bakery, it announced Thursday.

J&J Snack Foods, which makes Superpretzel, Icee and Whole Fruit products, among others, said in a news release it has purchased Labriola Baking Co., based in the Chicago suburb of Alsip, Illinois.

“The Labriola Baking Co. was built upon high-quality, authentic products,” J&J Senior Vice President Jerry Law said in a prepared statement. “We have been a longtime admirer of the company and we’re eager to have Labriola join our J&J Snack Foods family of brands and bakeries. We look forward to marrying Labriola’s quality product offerings with our current portfolio, thus providing additional opportunities for our customers and consumers.”

Labriola makes prebaked breads, rolls and soft pretzels for retail and foodservice outlets nationwide, J&J said.
